valentine's crayon craft

did a quick craft with sillie, something i *think* my mom did with me, when i was young.
these will be her valentine's treats to her classmate :)

:: quickie instructions ::
1. break up some old crayons (she loved doing this)
2. distribute them into any muffin mold you have (i happen to have a heart shaped one from the target dollar bins, from a couple years back)
3. bake at 250 degrees for 17-20 minutes. carefully pull them out of the oven and let cool (and harden) before popping them out
4. wrap the up any way you like! (sillie chose my little pony, her new love. next to dinosaurs)
5. you can even use the cards from the previous post :)
6. couple of tips: don't use the darker colors (browns and blacks), and here's a pic comparing normal crayons (right) vs. the thick crayons (left)

absolutely LOVE that this is not candy. Daughter came home with all this candy and I wanted to strangle it.

Can the mold I use for crayons be later used for food?

the molds can be used again, definitely. the silicon molds have a white residue after the crayons are baked in it, and i baked it (by itself) and then wiped it down quickly, i think it's a wax residue. i think also my dishwasher got it out, too.

What size is your heart shape pan? I would like to make it for daughter's, it will be a fun project for us.

my heart shaped pan has 6 hearts each just a few inches in size. it's perfect for little hands to hold! i got it in the target $1 bin years ago, but i saw them recently (for $2, i think?)

Thanks for your reply. I have to go back to Target again and see if I can find them.
